Barnsley based firm HMA Digital Marketing and the University of Sheffield's Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare (CATCH) has won the Innovation in Healthcare category at the University of Sheffield Enterprise, Innovation and Impact awards.

The annual awards, presented at a celebration dinner on 11th September, recognised the achievements of students, staff and the community with which they engage. For the first time, the University of Sheffield Enterprise presented the Impact of Research & Innovation Awards to acknowledge organisations who have implemented university research to enhance the lives, health, prosperity and well-being of the global community.

HMA received the award for Innovation in Healthcare with its collaborators at CATCH for the design and development of assistive technologies, for older people, people living with dementia and those with long-term conditions.  Their work includes a mobile healthcare app for management of weight loss for people with obesity and diabetes, ‘mHealth Assist’, a mobile technology platform to support healthcare management and independent living for vulnerable people, produced collaboratively with Tunstall Healthcare, and a prototype multi-platform tablet app to support people living with dementia and their care network, in collaboration with the Social Care Institute for Excellence.

Dr Cudd, Senior Research Associate at the School of Health and Related Research said “At CATCH we are delighted to win this award for Innovation in Healthcare with HMA. It reflects our strong collaborative relationship and how we’ve brought together our complementary skills to address healthcare challenges.”
Other award winners included university teams with collaborators from Sheffield City Council, Sellafield Ltd, JRI Orthopaedics and Chatsworth House.
