Professor Gail Mountain Spoke at Parliament
RAT Group's Professor Gail Mountain attended a working group convened by Paul Burstow MP regarding Lib Dem strategy development for the ageing population. Gail gave evidence to support the importance of participation by older people through good design, opportunities for citizenship and interventions to promote and sustain participation. Other speakers were Sue Adams from Care and Repair England and Claudia Wood from Demos. The subsequent conversation was wide ranging but with a significant focus upon meeting housing needs through both new build and adaptation of existing stock and there was particular interest in the evidence to support specific interventions. Gail was pleased to hear the MP say we need to appreciate the benefits of an ageing population.
