This month Lauren Powell attended the Royal College of Psychiatrists International Congress 2017 in Edinburgh.
Here she presented a poster that showcased a project conducted by Lauren Powell, Miss Naomi Robertson (University of Sheffield Psychology student), Dr Jack Parker and Dr Val Harpin (Sheffield Children's Hospital consultant paediatrician).
The project looked at the suitability of apps for children and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The work involved speaking to children and young people with ADHD themselves as well as their specialist clinicians to see what they think of existing apps for this group of people and also what they think would make the app useful and appealing to them.
In summary, the research found that currently available apps that are targeted at children and young people with ADHD are not very suitable!
