Join CATCH as Chair / Reader in Health Services Research

An exciting new position is available to join the CATCH team: we are looking for a strong, dynamic research leader. As a Chair / Reader in Health Services Research (Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare) you will play a key role in contributing to ScHARR’s and CATCH’s strategic aims, building on the existing interdisciplinary activity and expanding our world-class reputation for assistive technology and connected healthcare research.

The University of Sheffield has established a Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare (CATCH), with a vision to transform the ways in which people are enabled to live well and age well through the application of ubiquitous and personalised technology. CATCH is a cross-faculty Centre that coordinates the input of more than 70 research and clinical scientists from five university faculties with a range of research expertise including healthcare, engineering, psychology and social science. Research areas include complex behavioural interventions, human communication technology, assistive and social robotics and intelligent personalised support, with applications in healthcare, independent living, cognitive and mental wellbeing, and self-managed rehabilitation. Research expertise covers the spectrum from identifying user needs, research for the development of new technologies, user-centred technology design and development, evaluation of new technology-supported interventions in a new innovative ‘home lab’ environment, through to large-scale trials and implementation in practice and in people’s homes.
CATCH works collaboratively with a range of partners, including other universities, healthcare providers and commissioners, industry and third sector organisations, both in the UK and internationally.
The role of the post is to give academic leadership within CATCH and ScHARR, to energise and motivate staff, and to develop a culture of excellence in research and teaching. You will play a key role in the academic leadership of ScHARR, in the enhancement of the School’s internal and external profile, as well as the further development of its academic plan.

Job Vacancy: University of Sheffield

A 12 month post has arisen to provide maternity cover for the Study Manager of the "E-SEE Trial" (click here for further information on the study). Please note the number of working hours per week will be 28, not 30 as stated.
The role will be based in the Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) and will focus on providing governance support for the trial with tasks including: 

• Reporting and applying to funders, ethics committees, Research and Development (R&D) departments
• Assisting the Chief Investigator (CI) to identify and set-up a further two sites for the trial 
• Setting up important trial meetings including the Trial Steering Committee and Management Group
• Maintaining the Trial Master file
• Receiving and processing adverse event forms
