CATCH receive visit from Ningxia region of China delegation as part of their visit to the Sheffield City Region

On Wednesday 14 June CATCH were honoured to be visited by a delegation from the Ningxia region of China as part of their visit to the Sheffield City Region.

Ningxia is a region in the northwest of China and they have plans to build a new city. They want to design the health and care infrastructure so that new technology and other modern healthcare innovations can support their ageing society better.

Centre Director, Professor Mark Hawley, gave them an introduction to CATCH and demoed some of our latest innovations. These included a demo of the SMART shoe technology that can help stroke survivors to rehabilitate their walking and a conversation with Pepper, our humanoid robot, around how care robotics could be one solution to social care for older adults.

The visit was organised by Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO), the regeneration arm of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. After their visit to CATCH the delegation visited the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) before visiting Rotherham College.
