Members of the CATCH community and
collaborators gathered for a special networking lunch based around the theme of
Human Communication.
Drs Heidi Christensen and Stuart Cunningham
hosted the lunch which included a presentation from Dr Langzhou Chen. He provided a fascinating insight into the work of the
speech technology team at Amazon, UK.
There was also an inspirational talk from Jamie Preece, who talked about his experiences as a
user of augmentative and alternative communication. Jamie, who was born
with Cerebral Palsy, described his journey to using a communication aid and how
coming to use one in his 30s changed every aspect of his life.
The lunch formed part of a
wider day exploring Human Communication and included presentations from PhD
students and a discussion on new research in the field.
The next CATCH Networking
Lunch will be on 12 June and will form part of a workshop exploring Using Technology to Bring Music into the
Lives of People in Care. For more information and to register, please use our Eventbrite link.
