Innovate UK: Better interactions between people and machines

Innovate UK invites applications for its competition on better interactions between people and machines. This aims to encourage new, enhanced forms of interaction between computing systems and the people who use them. Proposals may address innovations in underlying technologies, in combining emerging technologies, or in employing tools to improve the user experience. Examples of such innovations are: sensors and interactions; wearable technology; mobile user experience; multiple device user experience; multidisciplinary approaches; brain-controlled computing; combinations of emerging technologies.
Eligibility: All UK companies and the UK-wide knowledge base may apply, and projects must include collaborations between a business, an academic institution and a qualified individual.
Funding available: The total budget is worth up to £1 million. Grants vary depending on the size of the company and on the type and duration of project, however they are usually on average worth around £60,000. SMEs might contribute around a third of the project costs, whereas larger companies generally receive a lower level of funding. Innovate UK aims to support up to 10 projects tenable between six months and three years.
