Researchers from the ScHARR RATgroup had a busy evening demonstrating their “technologies of the future” to
the public. Twelve researchers had a non-stop time teaching people of all ages
about Circa-LIM, Eye gaze technologies,
PARO Seals, SCRIPT, SMART 2 shoes, SMART COPD, Step by Step and VIVOCA.
Children and adults learnt about how these technologies were designed and are
used currently in clinical practice to improve the lives of people with long
term conditions.
The
biggest queues were to get a cuddle with a PARO Seal, try out the eye-gaze
technologies and get taught how to solve a Rubik’s cube by Sid! Parents liked
the fact that Step by Step as well as teaching people how to recover speech
after a stroke was good at teaching their kids to practice spelling!
