A taste of what 2014 has to offer...

The forthcoming year has lots of overseas trips for RAT Group member Professor Gail Mountain:

January - Professor Mountain has been invited by British Deputy High Commission in Mumbai to attend the Indo-UK Aging workshop co-organised by the Science and Innovation Network India, the UNFPA and TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) Mumbai to speak at a workshop on Assistive technology.

February - Professor Mountain is returning to Puerto Rico to speak in the Fourth Multidisciplinary Conference in Clinical Research & Fourth Summit of Translational Research in Health Disparities. The theme is:  Translational Teams: A Window to New Approaches and Health Improvement to Eliminate Health Disparities.
There will be two Concurrent Sessions in the afternoon. The topic of one of the sessions will be related to: Multidisciplinary Approaches with an  impact in health care and public policy. The session will have  three experts, each presenting a local, national or  international (global) initiative. Professor Mountain has been asked to speak about her experience in developing a global approach (model) in her area of expertise with an impact on health care and public policy .
April - Gail has been invited by the Occupational Therapy (OT) Coordinating Committee of Hospital Authority (HA), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) to be their main speaker for the Lifestyle change for adaptation to aging process and functional decline module of Advanced Specialty Program in Medical Services for Occupational Therapists.

HA is a government organization which is responsible for providing the majority of public, non profit-making healthcare services in Hong Kong. In order to maintain service quality and prepare for meeting the future service demands, HA has given training a high priority for staff. The Advanced Specialty Program in Medical Services for Occupational Therapists is one of the focus training programs designed for experienced OT colleagues who are working in the medical and geriatric specialty.
May - Professor Mark Hawley and Professor Mountain will be visiting the University of Southern California Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, this trip was originally scheduled for last November but was postponed due to Gail's injury.
