CATCH receives support from HEFCE’s Catalyst Fund to help develop industry partnerships

CATCH (The Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare) has received support from HEFCE’s (Higher Education Funding Council for England) Catalyst Fund to establish a small team to work on short commercially focused projects with industry partners. The team will comprise two industrial research scientists / engineers (specialising in ICT and healthcare) and a business development manager. They will allow us to overcome the challenge of resourcing short ‘proof of concept / utility’ type projects with industry partners which are often needed to get longer term research collaborations and partnerships established.

The funding is part of a larger award to the University which is focused on developing impact across important industrial sectors in the Sheffield City Region: advanced materials and manufacturing, healthcare technology and digital. The award will also see the development of a Medical Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (MAMRC) and an Advanced Digital Research Centre (ADRC) as well as the growth in activity at CATCH.

If you are a partner with potential project idea, please get in touch with Richard France (CATCH Development Manager) – r.m.france@sheffield.ac.uk
