Service Delivery Systems for Assistive Technology in Europe

Dr Peter Cudd in his role as treasurer and board member of the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe, attended this milestone meeting held in Copenhagen, May 21st - 22nd. The biannual workshop of the association saw on this occasion the coming together of three European associations, all with an interest in Assistive Technology and associated services. The other
organisations being, the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities, and, the European Rehabilitation Platform.

Bella Centre, Cophenhagen
These organisations have agreed to work together on several issues including in liaising with the European Commission Director General Institutes to bring about an integrated approach to future plans for research and development in the European Union. Further collaboration being considered is on future joint conferences.

The meeting talks presented examples of good practice across Europe which were then discussed with the aim of trying to synthesise a 'perfect' service delivery model for the future. A report will be
produced for AAATE members that summarises the findings; this document will also be used to help inform future research and development plans.
