CATCH proud to be part of the Foreign Office’s #GlobalBritain campaign

CATCH is delighted to be one of five institutions from the UK to be part of the Foreign Office’s Global Britain campaign.

Filmed in our Home Lab, a number of the CATCH team star in the two minute video which demonstrates the importance of having a global workforce in order to tackle big, global problems.
CATCH is interested in finding solutions to help people to live well and age well. To do this we need to work with people from different backgrounds who bring different expertise to our research. Dr Heidi Christensen reiterates this need in the video by sharing that it would be very difficult to carry out the valuable work that she does without a global workforce and the understanding of how different countries deal with disability that this brings.

Echoed by Dr Nasrin Nasr, Sheffield is a fantastic multi-cultural city and CATCH reflects this diversity, with one quarter of our 50 strong team being international and with eight different languages amongst us.

Professor Luc de Witte closes the video telling us that the reason he came to Sheffield from The Netherlands was because CATCH is one of the key centres for assistive technology. In order to drive this success however it’s imperative that we have experts. We need people with a vision who can contribute, and they can come from anywhere.
You can watch the campaign video here or join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #GlobalBritain.

We’d like to say a special thank you to all those members of the CATCH team who feature in the video: Anneliese FraserDr Heidi ChristensenProfessor Luc de WitteMatt BennionDr Nasrin NasrSarah Abdi. A big thank you is also extended to the Corporate Comms team at the University of Sheffield for giving us the opportunity to take part in this film.
