Professor Arlene Astell and Phil Joddrell of CATCH and the RAT Group attended ‘Technology and Dementia’, a pre-conference to the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) in July in Copenhagen, Denmark. This pre-conference featured research projects involving mobile technology, home-based technology and social networking to positively impact care and support for people with dementia and their carers and relatives.
Both Arlene and Phil delivered presentations during the
‘Living with dementia’ session in the morning. Arlene’s presentation covered a
range of her work under the umbrella title ‘Everyday technology for a good life
with dementia’, whilst Phil’s presentation focused on his current work for the
InTouch project, titled ‘Selecting touchscreen tablet applications for people
with dementia’. Arlene also organised and chaired this event through her role
within the International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment
(ISTAART).
