Telehealth services to be rolled out to 200 care homes this winter

In September 2011, Airedale Hospital set up a telehealth hub with the aim to provide patients with 24/7 care via nurses. Alongside their partners, Involve, Airedale Hospital is aiming to roll out this scheme, named "Immerdicare",  to 200 care homes later this year. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has already funded these services in 18 care homes as a pilot, aiming to reduce A&E and other hospital admissions. Results of this pilot showed that hospital admissions dropped by 45%, length of stay dropped by 30% and A&E admissions dropped by 69%.
