Technology and Disability: a special edition

Senior research associate Dr. Peter Cudd has edited a special issue of the journal Technology and Disability focused on assistive technology and technology transfer. The inspiration for special issue came from the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe’s (AAATE) 2010 workshop on the same subject.

In Dr. Cudd's editorial, he highlights the problem of defining terms like assistive technology and technology transfer while working in a multidisciplinary field. He concludes that 'the variability of speed of steps, commercial pressures and lack of funding can all conspire to make technology transfer a very complex and dynamic activity.'

The special issue presents an interesting, international, and interdisciplinary perspective on technology and knowledge transfer, service user requirements, regulatory influences and partnership working. Several other members of the RAT group also contributed to papers in the special edition.
