Older people influencing improvements in acute hospital care for frail older people

Sheila Kennedy recently took part in a radio discussion about a Department of Health funded research project aiming to improve acute hospital care for frail older people.  She spoke about her work facilitating and supporting Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in all aspects of the project, describing the rationale and value of PPI in research, and the recruitment and activities of older people in the project to date.

The discussion can be heard on The Agenda programme hosted by the broadcaster Martyn Lewis  on the AGE UK radio station called ‘The Wireless’ on 20 May at 6.00pm for one hour, repeated on Sunday 24 May, also at 6.00pm, on DAB radio in London and online using the Listen Now button via this link.

Sheila was interviewed by Martyn along with Deb Tanner, one of the volunteers involved in the project, Dr Simon Conroy, a consultant geriatrician and senior lecturer from Leicester who is the research project lead, and by Libby Archer (Operations Research Manager) and Tom Gentry (Health and Care Policy Adviser) from AGE UK.

For further information about the project and or to ask about getting involved in future PPI activities, email: s.m.kennedy@sheffield.ac.uk  or phone 0114 222 8279
